Perelada is a small medieval town situated in the middle of Ampurdan plain, close to Figueres, the famous painter Dali's city. Perelada is the center of Ampurdan-Costa Brava vineyards.

Miguel Mateu Pla, art enthusiast, bought the castle in 1923. He wished to plant vine in this wine-growing traditional region.In the 15th century, Carmelite nuns already produced wine in this castle. The cellars where they made it are still used today.

Castillo Perelada wines received several awards in national and international contests, among them three gold medals and two copper at Paris "Sélections Mondiales des Vins, Alcools et Liqueurs".

Castillo Perelada is an historic and cultural famous site. Besides its superb cellars, the castle owns a museum and a 70'000 books library.
