Six centuries an old history !
Abbey in 16th century, the Manor became a stronghold in 1403, held by
noble Pierre de Gland, vassal of the duke of Savoy and prince of Vaud.
During the following centuries, many country lords and Bernese baillifs
lived in these old walls.
On 1960, Alfred Oulevay (a senior member of the Council of State) and
his friend René Geissmann bought the Manor and created the limited
company Cofigo, the present owner. The Manor covers two appellations with
its 24 hectares of vineyards : 16 hectares produce Côtes de l’Orbe and 8
Bonvillars appellation.
In the Côtes de l’Orbe, the Gamay found a perfectly appropriate
ground. In appellation Bonvillars, a little lighter ground, similar to
banks very close to the Neuchâtel Lake, incited the wine growers to
cultivate Pinot Noir, the specific vine of this area.
