Built around 1415 by Henri de Colombier, the Château de Vufflens is
an exceptional work which is essential as well by its defensive
qualities as aesthetic. It is a fortification of very first plan. The
building, out of bricks, is composed of two castles, on one hand the
strengthened residence on the other hand the defensive part.
In addition to its decorative qualities, the brick is an ideal material
to resist the artillery blows. Capping the landscape of its legendary
silhouette, it is the property of the de Saussure family since the XVIIe
century. Impressing by their size, the six oak casks of the cellar -
each one of 8'700 liters – are used to age the wines of the estate.
Grounds and soils: Clay and limestone. Grape varieties:
Chasselas, Chardonnay, Gamay, Pinot Black, Gamaret, Garanoir,
Merlot. Name: Vufflens-le-Château
