The Domaine Le
Petit Cottens is a beautiful 8-hectares estate. It has been owned by
Walther's family since 1920.
Today, Jean-Pierre Walther and his son Raymond, cultivate the vineyard
according to traditional methods. They always search the utmost quality.
Grass grows between vine rows to enhance the organic structure of the
soil and avoid erosion. Thining out of the leaves, double or triple buds
cutting, thining out of grapes in July and August, all is done to
control yield. Grapes are picked up by hand and sorted before pressing
or vatting.
Vine is planted on slopes between 450 and 500 m height above sea level,
on light and gravelly soils mainly chalky. Chasselas constitutes 85% and
Gamay 15% of plantings.
